The best way to describe Allegros is a disneyland for your taste buds. Our five course meal was a journey through tangy, spicy, sweet, fruity and succulent culinary experiences.

The freshly oven baked dinner rolls were followed by cream of tomato and apricot soup with shredded coconut and tortilla chips. Next was a classic shrimp cocktail and dipping sauce which also served as very refreshing palette reseter before the layered apple, beat, cucumber and mango salad with crumbled parmesan tuile and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I cannot remember a time when I experienced so many different and yet complementary flavors all at once. Finally the main course of blue cheese crusted filet mignon with a spectacularly layered potato gratin and topping of shiitake mushroom demi glaze was served. The courses blended together like a "symphony of flavors" and just when I thought life couldn't get any better, the last and possibly my favorite course arrived: dessert. The chocolat pot de creme with strawberry coulis and creme chantilly was an explosion of chocolaty, tangy, sweet and savory delight. Despite being completely full, it was impossible not finish every bite.

Allegros is a not-to-be-missed experience for anyone who appreciates really good food. This was arguably the best food I've ever had and it was further accentuated by the fact that I experienced it at a highly unsuspecting and understated house in Lahore's Gulberg district. I'm looking forward to going back.
